Justice & Peace Sponsored Walk for Refugees

This Advent we will reflect on and pray for the millions of people worldwide who have been forced to flee from their homes, whether through persecution, famine or war.

•       There are 16.7 million refugees worldwide
•       50% of refugees are under 18 years of age.
•       Conflict and persecution force - on average  - 32,000 people/day to leave their homes.
•       Developing countries host over 86% of the world’s refugees

During Advent, the theme of Refugees will feature in the Mass and in displays by the children from the school.

To help us reflect on  the experience of being a refugee, on Sunday 7th December, there we will be a sponsored walk from St Stephen’s to St Margaret’s to join the Advent Carol Service here at 3.00 p.m.  Parishioners from all three churches are warmly invited to participate.

For those who feel that they would like to participate but that the walk from Skipton to St Margaret’s might be too far, there are options to join the walk part way, at either Rylstone or at Cracoe.
