Community Support
The Buckden community has been designated as a "Coronavirus Community Mutual Aid Group" - an informal network within the community providing support and help to others in the community as the need arises, and subject to our own collective ability to provide it. We are in regular communication with our local Community Support Organisation and with Craven District Council, both of whom are providing advice and information about what additional support is available. They can also access additional resources should it become necessary. The underlying principle of local support however is that where possible it is best provided by local people, who are on the spot and are most likely to be able to respond quickly.
The local mutual support effort started on 18th March with the issue of a leaflet by the Parish Council and the Institute, providing general information about how to help, and how to get help, and providing contact details.
A "Coronavirus Support Update" is being issued every few days with updated local information relevant to the pandemic. Two WhatsApp groups have also been established to facilitate communication within the community at a time of lockdown, when face to face conversations are not possible - between them, these groups now have almost 60 members.
